Take a Bartlet Pear.
Peel it, halve it, core it.
Place in a saucepan of red wine. Poach.
Place poached pear in the freezer for 24 hours.
Then eat while reading the following poem:
The Speaking Face of Earth
Snow was my cartouche, illiterate’s paper.
I shaped breasts on angels and devil horns.
I sucked on snow and drank its metal down.
Inside summer’s freezer, by frozen deer meat bundles,
hard packed snowballs shrunk to hosts.
I bit down hard like a mammal with a god.
Will satisfy all cravings for snow.
